The Yugoslavian government purchased from USSR license production rights on T-72 tank in 1979. New computerized fire control system was installed (DNNS-2 day/night gunners sight, a wind sensor mast located on a turret roof) and tank designated M-84. 200 M-84s were ordered by Kuwait in 1989 and 12 tanks were delivered before the Iraqi invasion in 1990, and during the war, an additional shipment was made to the Kuwaiti 35-th Fatah Brigade.
